Who we are
A second-generation family business: Bay Area since 1993, Concord since 2019.
Dick Hagen designed and serviced vacuum equipment, and in 1993 he founded HSD Engineering in Oakland. The business started with a furnace and grew into the repair, calibration, lab and systems work we do now. His grandson, J. Tyler Hagen, took it over in 2014 and runs it as President.
In our shop
A team does the work at our shop in Concord. Call or email, and you talk to the people at the bench. We are known for component-level repair. We designed and built our own vacuum furnace.

We rebuild pumps, service controllers and lab equipment, calibrate to OEM specs and take on system-level work.
